In 2024, the prestigious Michelin Guide has developed a ranking of the best hotels under the name Clef Michelin (‘Michelin Key’). This is the first time the organisation has compiled the top hotels around the world and awarded symbolic keys.
The Michelin Hotel Ranking 2024 includes two hotels in Monaco: the Hôtel de Paris (three keys) and the Metropole (two keys). The establishments were named among the best hotels on the French Riviera.
Olivier Thom, General Manager of the Hôtel de Paris admitted in an interview with the press that the guide’s highest accolade came as a surprise. With Michelin choosing the best hotels around the world for the first time in its history, the evaluation criteria were not entirely clear. In the rating, the iconic hotel in Monaco, which turns 160 this year, is noted as a place of high comfort, service and unrivalled elegance. The establishment now employs around 500 staff.
After the publication of the guide in France, the ratings of the USA and Spain were also published, followed by Italy and Japan.
